Lord Lambourne Apple
The variety is from England, where nursery Laxton crossed the James Grieve and Worcester Pearmain, and the tree was given an award as best frøæble at an exhibition in 1921.
The tree is growing slow. It forms an upright, rounded crown. It is hardy and healthy. When the tree bears good, it will be beneficial with well composted manure. The tree is fruitful and bear regularly.
The fruit is medium to large, round, first grass green which later becomes gold on the shady side, the sunny side are brownish red, later to become brilliant red to red-orange with darker stripes. The flesh is white-yellow with green veins, firm and somewhat coarse, not too sweet, juicy aromatic and tasty. Picked and eaten until October and can last for around New Year. (UK).
Lord Lambourne is a good eating apple, and well suited to squeeze juice. The tree's compact growth habit makes it suitable for small gardens. |
